Living Images
An exploration of shapes and colors
Centre Pompidou × West Bund Museum Project is delighted to welcome the exhibition of artist Yaacov Agam, precursor of kinetic art. Through an immersion in his artistic world, he invites children and their families to explore and understand his work based on the orchestration of elements in motion, constituting a visual and universal language which interacts with the audience.
The exhibition-workshop “Living Images” especially designed for the Creativity Gallery’s Playground at West Bund Museum originates from the installation Le Salon Agam which you can discover through the film presented inside the exhibition. It is a perfect example of this art in perpetual transformation. At every step, images are set in motion and no-one sees the same thing at the same time.
Through physical manipulation and observation, children discover the wealth of this artist’s creativity in the Playground. They understand the dynamic of colours, paint with magnetic keys on a giant palette, illuminate the space using the sound of their voices, or let themselves be carried away by the magic of visual transformations. The possibilities for creative dialogue are endless.
